Christmas in Megeve

Happy New Year to you all.  Sorry to have been so long in writing this.  I put it down to laziness.  Anyway, we arrived here on December 23rd with Elizabeth and her family, having had an early Christmas at home with all the family.  We had a great Christmas here and Nick, the chef at the Sylvana did an amazing Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings. Patryk is the chalet manager there this year.
At the Rond Point we have Helen as chalet manager, who last worked for us 22 years ago at the Sylvana.  Her partner, Stuart, is the driver etc there.  For those who remember Matt, he is back again at the Rond Point as handyman, etc. etc..  And of course, Rory is the resort manager with Olivia as admin.
Our daughter Caroline and her family came out for New Year, so we had two days with all the family, skiing.  We have had no snow since before Christmas but it is cold and they are making lots of snow so the pistes are good, though hard, particularly in the morning.   Snow is forecast for Wednesday next week.  We have had sunny, clear days, though cold - minus 5 -10.  I had to have the heaters on for my gloves and boots yesterday.
The pictures are a selfie of Elizabeth, me and Tommy (grandson aged 11) and John and Elizabeth's family skiing at Jaillet.
Sadly, I have a torn meniscus in my right knee.  I had a steroid injection in November but that has not worked, and I am scheduled to have an arthroscopy on Tuesday 15th.  So my ski season is going to be  curtailed this year.  I am hoping that the operation will work and I shall be back on skis in March.
