A grey day in Megeve but a snowy one!  It's been snowing since last Saturday and forecast to continue through to the end of the week.  Should be around 80cm at 1800m by Friday.  That's loads for this time of year.  OK, I know, that this lot will probably not last but it gets the ground good and frozen for when the real snow comes in next month.  Also, most importantly it gets me in the mood for skiing - wish I was out there now!  The Christmas tree is going up in the square and everything and I've been buying Christmas goodies for the chalets. 

I may have got slightly carried away but I couldn't resist the Let It Snow sign!

Our newly acquired Chalet Centrale is just three minutes walk from the central square and the Chamois ski lift, which goes straight up from the centre of Megeve to the ski school meeting point, yet in a quiet residential road with private garage and parking.  The small Casino supermarket is just round the corner selling everything you need for your stay - Truly, this is a great location for a wonderful ski holiday or ski weekend.  The apartment itself is on the ground floor of the chalet and is approximately 60m2.  It has a private entrance and spacious garden with terrace - Great for snowball fights and later on in the season enjoying the sun.  This centrally located Megeve apartment has two bedrooms - a double and a twin plus a bathroom with bath and shower.  Ideal for a long soak after skiing!  There is a separate w.c.  The kitchen is well equipped with four ring electric hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and coffee machine.  The comfortable sitting room/dining area includes a futon to accommodate an extra couple of people, TV (British free channels), DVD, music station and WIFI. All linen and towels are provided and our friendly and professional staff are on hand to ensure that you are settled in and to answer any queries. The chalet is cleaned weekly. Guests are welcome to join in with our social skiing programme. A new company is now available offering to shop and deliver food to your chalet.  We have not used them ourselves, however it could be great for our self-catering guests.  Less time shopping, more time skiing!  Here is their website www.megevemarket.fr We have also learned about another service from Chalet Kitchen who will deliver freshly cooked meals to your chalet each day that you pop into the oven on your your return from the slopes. Reports are that they are delicious and affordable, so well worth checking out! The countdown begins.... Winter 2017 here we come!⛷

⭐️New Year's Evening in Megeve!⭐️

We are now offering short ski breaks and ski weekends over the New Year period in our catered chalet/hotels Sylvana and Rond Point.  Escape the excesses of Christmas and grey old England and have a blast on the slopes of Megeve.  Megeve is lovely at New Year with a big party in the central square and fireworks.  The town is twinkling with fairy lights and Christmas trees.  A really picturesque spot.

We can offer 3 or 4 nights from 27th December to get you back to the UK in time for the great New Years Eve party or 3 or 4 nights over the New Year and enjoy the party with us instead!  Prices start from £390/person for 3 nights excluding flights and transfers.  Megeve is great for short ski breaks and ski weekends being only 75 mins from Geneva airport.  We offer a transfer service as well so you can be sure you'll hit the slopes as soon as possible.

We still have our superior catered chalet Les Clochettes available over New Year from 27th December to 3rd January for a party of 10 in five en-suite rooms with balconies.  It's a lovely chalet with a spacious sitting area, deep comfy sofas & leather arm chairs, large dining area with sunny veranda, 5 comfortable en-suite twin/double bedrooms with balconies, crisp white linen & plump duvets, french complimentary toileteries and we have super staff who will prepare delicious cakes, canapes & 4 course evening meals with wine.  All there to make sure your stay is really special.  Price is discounted from £1,350/person to just £1,200/person excluding flights and transfers.

⭐️Breaking News!⭐️

We're just in the process of signing up a new apartment to our portfolio!  It's right in the centre of Megeve next to the little Casino supermarket about 150m from the Chamois bubble.  Super location.  It sleeps 4-6 people in a double and a twin room + sofa bed in the sitting room.  There is a bathroom & separate w.c., kitchen with dishwasher & washing machine and a good sized sitting room with WIFI.  There's a private garden and most excitingly for this part of Megeve now everywhere charges for parking, a garage with an extra outdoor parking space!  Watch this space for more information and photos but do contact us asap if you would like to be on first refusal for any dates, especially peak weeks as we're expecting them to go like hot cakes!

⭐️Cancellation in our Superior Chalet Le Roseau⭐️

That's right, unfortunately some guests have had to cancel their stay at half term in our superior self-catered chalet Le Roseau so it is back on the market for £3,600 for the week of 12th February.  The chalet sleeps 6-8 people in two double en-suite rooms and one family room on the mezzanine with double and twin beds and an extra bathroom.  Lovely sitting area with log fire and fully equipped kitchenette.  Give us a call asap if you're interested as we're expecting it to go very quickly!

The Christmas Lights are switched on in Megeve!

Megeve News - All the Latest!   The Christmas tree is looking beautiful with the lights officially switched on.  Apparently it was a great party.  Certainly looks that way in the video!  There's lots more entertainment on this week with the Christmas village in full swing. The staff arrived last weekend and are busy getting the chalets ready for your arrival.  Cleaning all the nooks and crannies, making the beds and putting up the Christmas decorations.  The chefs are testing their ovens and learning the tricks of getting their cakes to rise at altitude and how to boil the perfect egg.  Sounds easy, but actually there's a definite knack and the lower pressure up there plays havoc with these things!   Our Catered Chalet/hotel Sylvana has had new doors fitted to the lovely fireplace in the sitting room.  Now perfect for relaxing in front of after a hard days skiing!

We're pleased to announce that Great Britain beat France 3-2 in the U20's ice hockey world championships held this week in the Palais des Sports in Megeve.  The Stanford team were there cheering them on!   The new international Megeve jazz festival is shaping up from Thursday 24th to Monday 28th March.  There will be free concerts in the village square and even at the foot of the pistes and then paid ones later on in the evening for the big names.  Hopefully it'll be like the summer festival where the musicians rejoin later for a jamming session in the square from about 11pm onwards.  A great party!  Names confirmed as coming are: Paolo Conte, Avishai Cohen, Melody Gardot and The Keystone Big Band.  Should be great fun.  We still have space in our catered chalets so book up quickly!

Get the Wax Out & the Skis Tuned, Snow is Falling in Megeve!

These pics were taken on Monday in the town and it's only mid-October.  Certainly enough to get us in the mood. Can't wait for the season to start, just 9 weeks to go!

Hellos and Goodbyes

It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to Jonny & Tracey who have been our resort manager's for the last two years.  They have been great members of staff and I know they have gone a long way to helping you to have a fantastic holiday.  They have decided to move back to the UK but don't worry, Jonny has left his ski gear in the Sylvana so no doubt they'll be out whizzing down the slopes soon! 

It is with great pleasure that I can introduce to you Rory as our new resort manager and Amy who will be managing our chalet/hotel Rond Point.  They have both spent the summer season out in Megeve with Jonny & Tracey and are champing at the bit to get stuck in to the winter.  As you can see, they're out in Megeve now enjoying the first signs of winter!  They both look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Megeve.

New On-Line Booking System!

Yes, we're finally getting into the on-line era, it's taken a while!  Now you can put a room on option via our new on-line booking system for 48 hours whilst you look at flights.  Then just give us a call with the deposit or do a bank transfer and you're all booked in!  

Don't forget we offer ski weekends as well as week holidays in catered chalets, chalet/hotels, self-catered apartments and hotels.  The transfer time is just 75 mins so ideal for short getaways!

What's new for Megeve this season?

Good afternoon all!

I'm sat here in our U.K office looking out of the window at glorious sunshine and it's seems hard to imagine that Winter is on it's way. However it is... with the reminder here being the stream of emails and phone calls from people who are staying or looking to stay with us this season in Megève *excited*

So while I have the chance, I'll update you with what's new this season  - as ever there's plenty to share about our most favourite place in the world!

New investment ahead for Megève’s lift system
The SEM Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, Chamonix lift operator, are finalising discussions with Megève to take over the running of the Megève lift system. The deal is expected to be signed in the next few weeks and long overdue investment and new lifts have been promised. As a first step Megève is included in the Mont Blanc Unlimited Skipass covering Chamonix, Courmayeur and Verbier. They hope to be building new lifts next summer. Watch this space…

4 Season Luge for Megève
A new 4 season luge will be operational by the winter promising a great apres ski activity for all. Running on rails the new luge will be open all weathers and in the evenings as well as the day time. Great fun for all and I for one can't wait to use my kids as an excuse to have a try

International Jazz festival
Also new for this winter is an international Jazz festival from 24-27 March. So combine glorious spring skiing with great apres ski.

No More L’Alpette – for now!
Sad news from Megève. The highly regarded restaurant L’Alpette has suffered a catastrophic fire and has burnt to the ground. Fortunately no-one was injured as the fire started at 4am. The owners have promised to re-build but not in time for this winter. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other wonderful restaurants in Megève!

Megève has a charming medieval pedestrianised village centre with bars, boutiques, a jazz club and casino. There are no mass-market operators because the hotels are small and individual and simply can’t accommodate hordes of guests. We specialize in Megève as a family run company owning and operating our own chalets as well as offering a transfer service to and from Geneva airport. This seasons prices start from just £490 per week! 
Our short breaks are also very popular with Geneva being only 75 minutes away - from only £310 for 3 nights in a catered chalet. Unbeatable!
